Halestine J. Session

 She received her undergraduate degree from Allen University, Columbia, South Carolina and masters degree from the University of Illinois. She is a former high school teacher in Timmonsville, South Carolina and a kindergarten teacher for 26 years at Washington School in Champaign, Illinois. Mrs. Session was recognized by Bank of Illinois and Channel 15 as Teacher of the Month in 1989.

Mrs. Session is a member of Bethel African Methodist Episcopal Church and a dedicated Sunday School teacher. She is a member of and an officer in the following Bethel Church groups: Willing Workers Club, Expansion Fund, Scholarship Committee and Benevolent Fund. She is a member of Epsilon Epsilon Omega Chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, NCNW, NAACP, Urban League, Allen University Alumni Association and the University of Illinois Alumni Association.

For several years she has prepared weekly meals for many women and men who lived alone. In addition, she visits and takes necessities and treats to nursing home residents. Halestine loves learning; she loves children and working with them.
On several occasions at Bethel A.M.E. Church, the children, with her guidance, have delivered performances in plays and public speaking. She has tutored children in her home and continues to volunteer in the schools.

Halestine is married to David H. Session and they have two sons: Kendal M. Session and Darrel R. Session (deceased). They have two granddaughters; Miesha and Courtney.
